THE MATLET GROUP LEADS DISCUSSION ON ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
AND SUPPLIER DIVERSITY
Going Green and Supplier Diversity: Is it the Next Wave?
PAWTUCKET RI – September 13, 2007-- The MATLET Group will be moderating a panel Discussion called Going Green and Supplier Diversity: Is it the Next Wave? on Thursday September 20, 2007 at the Connecticut Minority Supplier Development Council’s Business Expo & Conference, being held at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, CT.
The focus of the session will be on what sustainability means to both large and small companies, and ways that certified MBEs can bring value to their clients by adopting environmentally responsible practices in their own businesses and sharing the benefits.
Precipitated by much recent media coverage around global warming and environmental preservation, consumers are beginning to carefully consider their purchases--choosing products from companies perceived to be “green” leaders. This shift in attitudes creates new opportunities for diverse suppliers to bring value to their clients by adopting environmentally responsible practices in their own businesses and sharing the benefits.
The panelists will include: Keri Davis, Chain-of-custody Associate, The Rainforest Alliance; Wayne Moore, Managing Partner, Tychon EnergySystems; Adam Ney, Director of Public Affairs, Connecticut Business & Industry Association; and Dan Murphy, Sales & Marketing Manager, Pfizer Inc.
“As a commercial printing company, we see it as our responsibility to adopt greener practices across our company”, says The MATLET Group’s CEO, Gary Stiffler. “Our commitment to protecting the environment started with obtaining certifications from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), and SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) to ensure that our paper comes from responsibly grown and harvested sources. But we continue to explore a variety of ways to make our business greener, thereby helping our clients to reach their goals for being environmentally responsible”.
The MATLET Group also holds an ISO 14001 certification, minimizing the negative impact thier processes have on the environment, and in their corporate IT department, they save electricity by implementing virtualization. In addition, they are exploring sources of renewable energy.
